Your pet will need a yearly wellness exam with Dr. Huff. These routine exams allow us to catch issues early when they are most treatable and to help ensure your beloved pet has the best chance at excellent lifelong health.
At this appointment, Dr. Huff will give your furry friend a thorough physical check-up in order to obtain a complete picture of his or her overall health. The exam/office visit is $49 and will include the following elements:
General Condition: Your pet's general demeanor and physical condition can provide clues to their overall health. How your pet stands and walks, their level of alertness, and whether they are a healthy weight for their size, are all important indicators of their overall health.
Coat & Skin : During your pet's checkup, Dr. Huff will examine your dog or cat's skin and coat for signs of problems including excessive oiliness, dryness, lumps, bumps, dandruff, or abnormal hair loss or shedding.
Face & Head: Your pet's eyes, ears, and nose will also be examined for abnormalities or discharge. We will also check the mouth for symptoms of oral health problems such as plaque buildup or periodontal disease.
Internal Health: Dr. Huff will listen to your pets heart and lungs. He will test to make sure the rhythm and beats per minute are within the normal range and we will listen to the lungs for evidence of abnormal breathing. He will check your pet’s lymph nodes for pain or swelling, examine the abdomen to ensure the intestines, kidneys, bladder, spleen, liver and stomach all feel normal and that your pet is not showing any signs of discomfort.
Toe Nails: Many owners struggle with trimming their dog’s nails, luckily, we provide nail trimming services at no cost during your pet’s wellness exam.
Add-On Services: These are services that might be needed or desired by the owners. There is a cost associated with add-on services such as cleaning and treating ears, expressing the anal glands, treatment for fleas, heartworm testing and heartworm prevention.
Review of Findings
At the end of your pet's wellness exam, Dr. Huff will take the time to discuss any concerns he has about your pet's overall health and talk with you about your pet's nutritional requirements and administer any vaccinations that are needed.
